The Hill is one of two campuses of Good Shepherd. Our “Windsor” campus is located in Tarrytown (3201 Windsor Rd) and our “Hill” campus is located right at the border of Travis Heights and the East Riverside-Oltorf neighborhoods in southeast Austin (1700 Woodland Ave).
Our campuses have a shared mission and values, tailored to the needs of our distinct communities.
The Hill currently offers one worship service on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am.
This service typically uses the Episcopal liturgy for Holy Eucharist, Rite II. Our music is eclectic and led by church members with professional musician support.
During the service, readers from the congregation read Bible passages, the preacher shares a sermon, we share in the prayers of the people, and then we receive Communion.
Typically, our worship service is in spoken English with American Sign Language interpretation. To celebrate our multicultural community, we offer occasional services in multiple languages.
You are welcome; we really mean it. We will do our best to welcome you no matter your background, identity, country of origin, or language. Let us know if you have accessibility needs that we haven’t accounted for!
You can dress in whatever way is comfortable for you. Some people wear a jacket and tie and some wear shorts and a t-shirt. All are welcome!
The Hill has a parking lot on the premises. During special events or high attendance days, you may want to take advantage of free street parking on Sylvan Dr. or Woodland Ave.
Yes. Sunday School for adults begins at 9:30 am on Sundays and is ongoing throughout the year. It is typically offered in the form of a Bible study, book study, or theological exploration.
Children’s Chapel for children ages 3 to 4th grade begins at 10:15 am and includes a Bible story, activities, songs, and play. Children are invited back into the service at the passing of the peace so they may participate in Holy Eucharist.
Deaf Bible Study begins at 12:15 pm on Sundays and is tailored toward Deaf people, with time for questions, discussion, and fellowship. This is an interpreted study led by a hearing person.
The nursery is a safe and welcoming space for children under 3 staffed by certified childcare workers through Jovie. The nursery is open from 10:15 am-12:00pm on Sunday mornings.
You don’t have to! Coffee, breakfast tacos, and donuts are served almost every week, beginning at 9:15 am. Stop by our coffee and food station, then settle in for Sunday School or fellowship in the parish hall. We also have Coffee Hour immediately following the service if getting here early isn’t your thing.
The Episcopal Church is the American branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Episcopal parishes throughout the country are bound together through common prayer and spirituality. In fact, within the wider Anglican Communion here and abroad, one can expect similarities in worship. Learn more at The Episcopal Church glossary.
